Ascending the mountain by road is a journey to remember with spectacular views across to Barcelona and the Pyrenees. Arrival is timed for entry into the auditorium to be followed by entry into the Basilica to enjoy the sounds of the famous Montserrat Boys Choir. A visit to touch La Moreneta is optional. For the adventurous with a head for heights a trip to the top of Montserrat is possible by funicular railway. Lunch in one of the restaurants is followed by free time to enjoy the views and to pass through the shopping mall. Gaudi designed the Crypt, the only part of the church completed, and it is regarded as the finest piece of architectural work ever produced by him. Free time is available to explore the museum and village using audiophones that have recorded information regarding architecture of interest in the Colony. Your return journey to Barcelona passes through the business quarter of the city before arriving at the Temple of La Sagrada Familia where you will enjoy external viewings before taking time for a brief lunch and souvenir hunting. Commencing your tour in the vast Plaza Nova you will view Roman walls, the Cathedral and a work by Pablo Picasso. Passing through one of the Roman portals you have the opportunity for a closer external viewing of the Cathedral before proceeding to the Royal Palace and its surrounding Plaza, church and museum. There is an opportunity to shop for articles made and produced in local Barcelona artesanal workshops before you travel onwards to the Jewish Quarter. Entry into the Synagogue is optional, please note a small donation is required by the Synagogue which is a historic building supported by public donations.
